For all hikes: Bring lunch, liquid and clothing appropriate for the season (summer fog, winter rain).
Some hikes may be canceled or changed due to the weather; please see statement in each hike description.
Call the hike leader if you are not sure.
For trail maintenance: Wear long pants, boots, and long-sleeved shirt and bring gloves as well as lunch and liquid.

Trail Maintenance - Skyline to the Sea Trail— Al Lisin, (408) 252-8106, leads a group that maintains the Skyline to the Sea Trail. This group now meets on the first Saturday of the month. The group meets at 9:00 am. Please call Al for meeting place (which changes).

Henry Cowell Redwoods, Fall Creek Unit; Due to storm damage, we have changed the hike route, and also the starting point. Hike starts from San Lorenzo Valley High School, Hwy 9, Felton, at 9:30. Enter the SLVHS parking lot, go to the left, and park near the highway. Moderate hike of about ten miles, partly along the very-full Fall Creek! We will hike counter-clockwise, visiting the barrel mill, Lost Camp, and the lime kilns. We will start on the High School Trail, hike up the Ridge and Truck Trails, and then drop down to Fall Creek, climb up the other side, and return on the Lost Empire, South Fork, and Fall Creek trails back to the High School. Carpool 8:45 from Los Gatos North Side Municipal Lot, on the north side of Highway 9 between University and North Santa Cruz. Hike from SLV High School at 9:30 Mark Bowden (408) 735-8736.

Pinnacles National Park; Cliffs and caves, spectacular wildflowers, and maybe some condor sightings on the High Peaks - Balconies Cave Loop. This is a moderate to strenuous hike of about 9 miles, 1540' elevation gain and loss. We will start with a steep climb up switchbacks in to the High Peaks; then return along and down the Old Pinnacles and Balconies trails. Bring a flashlight for the cave. Castle Rock State Park Trail Maintenance— The third Saturday of every month Kevin McDevitt leads trail work in the Castle Rock area. Meet at Saratoga Gap parking lot at 9:00. Butano State Park; We will take the Jackson Flats trail, and Canyon trail, and then loop back on the Indian, Doe Ridge, and Six Bridges trails, hiking clockwise. Heavy rain cancels. Tenessee Valley to Muir Beach Starting from the Tennessee Valley trailhead, hike a 9 mile loop, up the Miwok and Coyote trails, then down the Green Gulch trail through the Zen Center. We will have lunch at Muir Beach, and return on the Coastal and Tennessee Valley trails. Lots of ocean views! Heavy wind/rain cancels. Foothills Park, Palo Alto A moderate hike of approximately 9 miles, 1900' elevation gain, on the Los Trancos Trail. Sometimes narrow trail with a few bridges, can be slippery if wet. Note: If a ranger is on duty at the entry station (unlikely), there needs to be a Palo Alto resident with the group, so please meet at the Page Mill/280 park n' ride at 9:10am. From the entrance kiosk stay left and drive downhill. Park in the first lot on the left (Orchard Glen Picnic Area) by the toilets and before the big grassy meadow. Long Ridge OSP Grizzly Flats Approximately 9 mile loop hike starting down Grizzly Flats Trail to Canyon Trail. We'll take Table Mountain Trail back up, and return along the ridge on Hickory Oaks and Peter's Creek trails. Note from Cathy - We will celebrate Mary Ellen's landmark birthday with treats after the hike! Lower La Honda Open Space Preserve An easy to moderate 9-mile hike through active ranch land with coastal views and, hopefully, spring wildflowers. Sanborn County Park We will hike up the Sanborn trail towards the Todd Creek redwoods to the Skyline junction and return via the San Andreas trail for approximately 8-9 miles. Most of the hike is shaded amongst the redwood forest. Purisima Creek Redwoods Open Space Preserve A moderate to strenuous 10-mile hike through redwoods from Skyline Boulevard down to Purisima Creek and back up using the North Ridge, Harkins Ridge, Craig Britton, Purisima Creek, and Whittemore Gulch Trails. Carpool from Page Mill/280 Park and Ride at 8:30 a.m. or meet at 9:00 at the North Ridge Trail trailhead on Skyline Boulevard 4.5 miles south of Highway 92.
